International Women's Day at UNESCO Paris: Premiere of "Her Education, Our Future" Documentary

Heritage Education Network Belize visited UNESCO Headquarters on the 7th of March 2024 to watch the premiere of a new documentary titled “Her Education, Our Future”. The film follows the educational paths of four young women - Anee, Fabiana, Mkasi and Tainá - from different corners of the world.

Her education, our future is UNESCO’s drive to accelerate action for girls’ and women’s education by leveraging political and financial commitments, as well as leadership for women and girls. It will contribute to the UNESCO Strategy for Gender Equality in and through Education (2019-2025) and its three pillars aiming for better data to inform action for gender equality in and through education; better legal, policy and planning frameworks to advance rights; and better-quality learning opportunities to empower.

As an NGO founded by and led by women, we are working towards accessibility and a better understanding of the importance of heritage education. The documentary we watched was truly inspiring and confirmed what we knew all along: If you educate just one woman, you educate a whole community. A special thank you to the four great young women who shared their stories in the film!
