Our vision is to become a hub for cultural and heritage related solutions, establishing holistic and collaborative approaches as the norm on the global stage. Ultimately, we see ourselves as promoting and attaining sustainability, inclusivity, and diversity within the socio-ecological reality of the world.

Heritage Education Network Belize is dedicated to culture and heritage.

What do we mean by culture? Culture is tangible, intangible, built, ecological, archaeological, historical, ethnographic, and human. It promotes and maintains community, synergy, meaning, wellness, socio-economic development and has an impact on all aspects of life.

Through socially and digitally innovative, holistic, and collaborative projects, we aim to empower local communities and stakeholders to create and maintain sustainable lifeways through culture. The NGO is dedicated to communication, community engagement, research, advocacy, capacity building, development, and ultimately education.

Born during the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic

Our initiative started in the midst of the 2020 pandemic with the aim to support Belizean tourism professionals, cultural and heritage organizations, business owners, artists, and artisans coping with the impact of COVID-19. As a collaboration between Fajina Archaeology Outreach and Craboo Creative Travel, our initial goal was to offer free online learning opportunities to those in need.

With time, we noticed how extensive the impact was on the cultural, creative and tourism industries, as well as the local communities and the global economy. It was clear that the disappearance of diverse artistic, cultural, and creative positions would have major negative social and cultural impacts if not mitigated.

We saw an opportunity to continue and establish a support system that focuses on education and capacity building by building on culture, heritage and research.

We encourage everyone to join our initiative and let us create a network where we can support each other by sharing knowledge!
