Call for Participation: HENB Introduces New Interview and Op-ed Series

Heritage Education Network Belize is pleased to introduce two new interview and op-ed series and invite you to participate!

The two series are mutually complementary, introducing people who work in sustainable tourism on a day-to-day basis and the policies that shape the tourism industry. They form a public initiative that informs the wider public about the stakeholders involved in sustainable tourism.

The Community-based Tourism Insight Series spotlights the perspectives of community members who are involved in tourism, from sustainable tourism operators, to local entrepreneurs, to artisans. We will interview individuals or organizations from the above categories. The goal is to help a wider audience understand the values that shape tourism practices and tourism’s potential to uplift communities.

The Sustainable Heritage Op-ed Series highlights the important national and international policies that shape the tourism sector in Belize and the wider world. We welcome heritage professionals to contribute 500-word-maximum Op-eds that each introduce one policy, its significance, and its on-the-ground impact. This series complements Community-based Tourism Insight by introducing the underlying structures of the sector.

If you are committed to sustainable tourism and safeguarding heritage, we would love to highlight your perspective by featuring you in an interview or op-ed. To get in touch, please email volunteers.heritagebelize@gmail.com with a brief self-introduction and a description of some topics you have in mind.
