KULCHA Symposium Presenter, Pablo Cambranes: Safeguarding cultural heritage with collaborative street art

Pablo Cambranes, resident from the town of San Ignacio. As a graduate with a Bachelors in Marketing, I have plenty experience to feed my entrepreneurial spirit by constantly finding ways to develop Belize’s tourism product with the potential to reach an extended international audience.

My interest in passion for culture was sparked after visiting countries like Peru. My certification as a general tour guide in Belize has allowed me to learn more about what makes us special as a country. Extensive experience in the field of was the motivation to create The Locally Project.

About the Presentation

Thematic Session: Creative Arts & Belizean Heritage - September 3rd, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM (UTC-6:00)

The Locally Project, is a community-funded project in collaboration between artists, small businesses, local and international stakeholders on a joint mission to safeguard Belize’s culture.

Presentation will discuss 'cultural footprint’ as a method to selecting the spaces for each murals and how they each serve as effective education/awareness transfer tool. I also hope to discuss our aim as we raise standards in digital competencies, community involvement, cultural dialogue and social responsibility through the proper mobilization of private and public resources.

Worth presenting are the connections of the creative process of the mural and the heritage cycle. Viewers will also benefit from knowing the success factors and plans for the future in terms of collaborations and theme. The timeline and steps taken for each mural is also worth presenting on as well as the strategies making it possible. Having measurable impacts for each mural is very important in my plan, so I plan to discuss some of the measurable impacts achieved after the completion of the first mural in San Ignacio.
